Frederick the Great was not only a brilliant Prussian military commander but an architect, philosopher, enlightened lawgiver, linguist, and fine flute player and composer. His court attracted some of the finest composers and musicians of the day including C.P.E. Bach, Quantz, Graun, and Benda. Hear the music that was Enlightenment’s answer to the tradition of France and the Sun King.
