The roster of 29 performances and installations involved in the 2007 University Co-op Presents the Cohen New Works Festival has been announced. Filled with diverse perspectives and innovative media, this upcoming edition of the Festival proves very exciting indeed. Some productions of note include Portrait, a design and dance installation in which dancers suspended seventy feet from the ceiling of the Payne Theatre explore the back wall as though it were a floor; Wireless-less, a multi-media theatre performance about a man, a woman, and her laptop computer as presented by the patients at the Longwood Information and Technology Rehab Center; and Futari Tomo, a new Japanese taiko drumming composition featuring the pounding rhythms and fluid movement unique to this dynamic art form. The biennial Festival, organized by the UT Department of Theatre and Dance, celebrates original works created by UT students, faculty and guest artists. Every other year the festival expands further into multidisciplinary work by including contributions and collaborations from other departments such as Radio-Television-Film, Music, Architecture, Visual Art, and more.
