Daniel MacIvor's A Beautiful View is making its American debut with Dirigo Group's production just days before it opens in New York City as part of the Under the Radar Festival. How did that happen? It happened because Mr. MacIvor was so impressed with the critical and popular response to dirigo group's summer production of In On It that he asked Dirigo Group to produce this play as well. As Lowell Bartholomee, co-artistic producing director of dirigo says, “Talk about an offer you can’t refuse.” It’s also the chance to spend an hour and fifteen minutes in the same space with two blazingly talented actresses performing a play by one of our true modern masters pretty much beats all of the other things listed above. Getting the chance to have Carra Martinez and Sarah Boughton crack you up one second and then tear your heart out the next? “We’d trade that for a birthday, feature article, and premiere designation any old day,” Bartholomee quips. Performance Notes: On January 19, 20, 26, 27 plays will start at 10:00pm.
