Come celebrate Austin’s popping short fiction scene at the AUSTIN SHORT SHORT FICTION FESTIVAL #2!
We had such a great time last year, we’re doing it again! On Sunday, April 2, from 1-3 PM, a dozen or more local authors will read their best short-short fiction piece (<1000 words) aloud at the Ney. We also hope to have a couple of nationally-known surprise readers. Accomplished local authors Elizabeth McCracken, Deb Olin Unferth, and Mary Helen Specht will curate the readings and host the day’s events. Last year’s event was delightful, with fourteen readings in two hours—a sweet and entertaining afternoon on the grass. Booths from local publishers and writing groups, including fields magazine, will also be featured. This event will complement the Austin Public Library Friends Foundation New Fiction Confab and Austin Lit Fair, which, not coincidentally, will occur the day before (Saturday April 1).
There will be food trucks featuring Ray’s World Tacos, face painting, other family-friendly activities, literary booths, and more!
