MacTheatre Presents Moon Over Buffalo Dec. 8-11, 2016
In the madcap comedy tradition of Lend me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950’s who cling to hope for one last shot at stardom as they hear that Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee. Everything that could go wrong does go wrong, including hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing, caused by Charlotte’s deaf stage-manager mother who hates every bone in George’s body.
The play, which had runs on Broadway and in London, was described by the Boston Globe as, “Nothing less than a love letter to live theater.” Carol Burnett was nominated for the Best Actress in a Play Tony Award for her portrayal of Charlotte. MacTheatre is eager to bring this slapstick comedy to Austin audiences.
