Keep Aging Weird

“Keep Aging Weird” is Capital City Village’s luncheon event on Thursday, October 8 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. to raise funds for memberships for Austin seniors surviving at the lowest income levels. The keynote speaker is branding strategist Tuck Kamin, author of Design Your Age, the “…one book on aging that will help you forever shift your perception that you are NOT toast after your 50s.” The emcee is KXAN-TV’s chief meteorologist Jim Spencer, and music is provided by Kay Rivers Kidd.

Capital City Village (CCV) is an Austin-based nonprofit that has created a membership-based “virtual village” helping seniors stay in their homes and communities for as long as possible with dignity, health, fun and social interaction, a concept called aging in place and community. This mission is achieved through Volunteers, Providers and Programs. Volunteers are ready to help with transportation, errands and companionship; Providers assist with professional projects and services like roofing, plumbing and home healthcare and Programs are free or low-cost and designed to keep members connected to all Austin has to offer, from educational to cultural to healthy outings and events.
