What People Say about Cate Berry - “Instantly, her presence on stage is more than likeable; it is deeply engaging. She is fascinating to watch…it is in her absolute surrender to herself and the audience. She seems unafraid. This fearlessness is perhaps what makes Berry so vibrant and sincere.”
    -The Austin Chronicle
Cate Berry studied acting at New York University and received her BFA in musical theater from Webster Conservatory in St. Louis. She has lived and worked professionally as an actress in New York City, Chicago, Seattle and St. Louis. Ms. Berry began writing and performing her original work in Austin in 2000, first as a songwriter in the Austin music scene, where she recorded Geography (Blind Hit Records), produced by Darden Smith.
After winning Frontera Fest’s “Best of the Fest” with her original one-woman show Spin – An Inverted Musical in 2004, she turned to creative non-fiction, developing her craft as a personal essayist through performances at the Hyde Park Theatre, the Snug, Bookwoman and Austin Bat Cave Story Department. She was chosen to be in the cast of “Listen to Your Mother” at the AT&T Conference Center in Austin, Texas 2012, and in 2013 won “Best of the Fest” for a second time with her one-woman show Dish. Cate has been honored with two B. Iden Payne Award nominations and has spent two years as a cast member of Spike Gillespie’s Dick Monologues.
