    Austin Carnaval Poster Retrospective

Presented by at South Austin Popular Culture Center

    January 19 - February 16, 2013

    Austin Carnaval Poster Retrospective

SouthPop’s newest exhibit features the posters created for Austin’s Carnaval- which is an annual event that began in Austin in 1978 as a relatively small gathering that has grown to be one of Austin’s biggest and most anticipated annual events. It’s like a quick trip to Brazil without the long airplane flight. The posters commissioned by Producer Mike Quinn over the years for the events are spectacular and together as a group are awesome to see.

The exhibit opens January 19th with a celebratory reception starting that evening at 7:09pm. The Samba School will perform…dancing will commence! Besides the posters, there will be select photographs from recent years.

The original painting created for this year’s event will also be on display.

This is a free event; donations are gratefully accepted.

The exhibit itself will run from January 19th through February 16th. Remember, there’s no parking at the Center, so please park over on Collier (adjacent to the Center) and stroll over…or take public transportation or ride your bike.
