The Austin Symphonic Band will perform its second indoor concert of the season, featuring solo pieces for brass. The guest artists will be Wiff Rudd, Trumpet, and Brent Phillips, Trombone, from the faculty of the Baylor School of Music.
Rudd will perform “Dramatic Essay for Solo Trumpet and Band” (1958) by Clifton Williams. Phillips will play the virtuosic “Blue Bells of Scotland” by Arthur Prior. The artists will combine their talents in two pieces: Joseph Turrin’s “Fandango for Solo Trumpet, Trombone and Wind Symphony” and Herbert L. Clark’s celebrated “Cousins” (1904) for cornet and trombone.
