A classical love story with a modern musical twist, Wand will draw the audience into the experience of the magic of show business. We meet "The Great Macardi" just as his star is rising to professional levels, as his assistants Alex and Angel help him navigate the waters of fame under the guidance of his agent, Drake. When Drake introduces them to a casino booking agent named Kadi and her trusted ally Taylor, sparks begin to fly, both romantically and professionally. As the magic continues to improve, revelations bring new feelings to light, driving some couples closer while forcing others apart. When a mysterious stranger reveals more truths, who will choose love, and who will choose fame? Can even a magician find a balance between romance and heartbreak?
The musical's playwright and composer, Cyrus Albertson of Albertson School of Music, has been Director of Music as well as pianist for over 20 years at a large church in Austin. He has led the chancel choirs, children’s choirs and handbell choirs. He has composed and published numerous choral works for churches and instrumental works for chamber orchestras. Mr. Albertson is also an accomplished conductor, having conducted a number of large orchestras and big band ensembles.
