‘Imagination Station’ Classes & Camps for CenTex Kids (9-18)
July 16-20 at Salado Silver Spur Arts Academy
Week-long camp inspires aspiring young artists and performers
The second of three, week-long, fun-learning “InSPURational Summer” sessions for aspiring young artists and performers in Central Texas gets underway Monday, July 16, at the Silver Spur Theater (108 Royal St.) in historic Downtown Salado.
The Silver Spur Arts Academy’s July session – for children ages nine to 18 – offers a unique, creativity-cultivating camp and outreach program. Openings are still available, and additional programs are available for external groups and locations.
“Our students describe the summer camps in various ways,” said Tiffany Schreiner of Salado, the Academy co-founder who has more than 25 years of experience in movement and dance instruction. Here are a few:
· “Where all the wild things are”;
· “Where it’s good to be a kid”;
· “Never Never Land nestled in the heart of Texas”;
· “The one-stop imagination station!”
“These youngsters are introduced to dance, drawing, crafting, crooning, painting, play-acting, moving, imagining and more,” Schreiner explained. “Each camp culminates with a fun, creative and quite festive finale for families and friends to explore and enjoy.”
For more information, or to reserve a spot for an aspiring young artist, call the Salado Silver Spur Theater at 254 947-3456, or visit the Academy website at www.silverspurarts.com and click on “Events.”
The site also covers SSAA’s outreach programs for schools, hospitals, day care facilities, retirement communities and other groups, as well as private lessons. Check out the new Will Von Bolton-produced info-video .
“Our participants have a chance to learn visual and performing arts techniques in amazingly fun ways,” added Grainger Esch, SSAA co-founder and Creative Director of the Silver Spur. “It’s all about engaging their imaginations in creative and positive ways.”
Tuition for each the five-day camps is $185. Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch or snack. Reservations for the camps are strongly encouraged since space is limited. The camps are offered on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The third and final summer camp will be Aug. 6-10, also for students age 9-18. Focus of that session will be primarily on theater arts with instruction in performance, movement, dance, speech, singing, clowning, writing and improvisation.
