The Materiality of Impermanence, a dance performance chronicling and reflecting on a dancer/choreographer’s fight with and survival of breast cancer will premiere at The Long Center this March. Austin-based, Mexico City-born, Sharon Marroquín has been developing the ambitious new work for the past 14 months.

The production addresses both her personal experience and the universal struggle not only with cancer, but also our own mortality. The result is an enlightening, harrowing, and ultimately uplifting work of art and healing. Marroquín conceived The Materiality of Impermanence not only as a personal expression, but also as a tool for those facing a diagnosis, as well as for their loved ones and care providers.
