Luis Alberto Urrea, Queen of America
Thurs, Jan 19 7PM
Award-winning author Luis Alberto Urrea is back at BookPeople with Queen of America, featuring the beloved Teresita from The Hummingbird's Daughter. When Teresita flees to America from Mexico during the revolution there, she meets immigrants and tycoons, European royalty and Cuban poets, all waking to the new American century. As she decides what her own role in this modern future will be, she must ask herself, can a saint fall in love?

about food tell us. Panelists at this event will include special guests Carol Ann Sayle from Boggy Creek Farm, Stephanie McClenny

MysteryPeople Presents:
James Carlos Blake, Country of the Bad Wolfes
Sun, Jan 22 3PM
A master of the historical novel, James Carlos Blake is back with Country of the Bad Wolfes. It is based in part on his own ancestors, spanning three generations, centering on two sets of identical twins and the women they love. Join us for a great event, that even includes beverages provided by Saint Arnold Brewing Company.
Jay Asher & Carolyn Mackler, The Future of Us
Mon, Jan 23 7PM
Tonight we are a very lucky bookstore, indeed, to welcome authors Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler. Their new novel, The Future of Us, has already met with critical acclaim. The New York Times said in its review, "The real value of The Future of Us...is the rich crop of questions it will raise in teenage readers." A book that gets us talking? We love it!
Ben Marcus
The Flame Alphabet
Tues, Jan 24 7PM
Co-sponsored by American Short Fiction
A terrible epidemic has struck the country, and the sound of children's speech has become lethal. For Sam and Claire, it seems their only means of survival is to flee from their daughter, who laughs at her parents' sickness. But Sam and Claire find it isn't so easy to leave the daughter they still love, even as they waste away.
