The great F.W. Murnau set the standard for frightening movies with his 1922 "Symphony Of Horror". Conceived in musical movements to achieve maximum terrifying effect, it still works. Even though the Dracula story which Murnau plagiarized is familiar to every school child, the rhythm and visual magnificence of the film make it endlessly fascinating even today. There have been a lot of technological innovations in filmmaking over the last 90 years, but the simple terror invoked by cadaverous Max Shreck as the vampire set the standard for screen chills. As perfect as the film is on its own, we believe the score performed by Graham Reynolds and The Golden Arm Trio adds immeasurably to the horror that is NOSFERATU.

Composer-bandleader Graham Reynolds creates, performs, and records music for film, theater, dance, rock clubs and concert halls with collaborators ranging from Richard Linklater to DJ Spooky to the Austin Symphony Orchestra. A five time winner of The Austin Chronicle Reader’s Poll Award for “Best Composer," Reynolds has composed a wide variety of film scores, including several silents that have premiered at the Alamo as well as for “A Scanner Darkly,” Richard Linklater’s animated sci-fi classic.
