Sarah Silver Hands conjures a dark faery tale world, revolving around the Cornucopia Tree and telling the story of Princess Sarah of the Autumn Kingdom. Discover how Sarah receives her magical Silver Hands. Will the Winter Witch, Spyril, succeed in her evil plots against the Autumn Kingdom? Will Sarah triumph with the help of The Autumn Sprites, The Golden Gazelle, The Green Monkey, and The Scarlet Tiger? How will young Sarah overcome her challenges in order to save her father and her kingdom?

In the tradition of the Brothers Grimm, Sarah Sarah Silver Hands has dark themes, frightening situations, and a happy ending. No nudity, blood, or profanity in Sarah Silver Hands. Suitable for all ages.

      Once again Bonnie Cullum and The V company dazzle the play space with yet another fantasy. Chad Salvata paired with Producing Artistic Director Bonnie Cullum offer Austin and surrounding areas an escape into a dream world similar to Narnia. Children and adults alike can vanish from their daily life and find themselves engulfed in rich, colorful lighting, magical costumes, and vibrant vocals.  Most of the cast performed flawlessly, several of which are underrated in the community. Christine Achico was delicate in her role. Justin LaVergne shined along side the rest of the ensemble and the set was reflective of the lighting just as the costumes were. Helen Hutka's make-up design worked seemlessly with the lighting and added another layer of brilliance to the piece as a whole. The Brothers Grimm would be proud of this one. A must see for all ages.       Bonnie Cullum as directed another great piece pure and simple at the Vortex. Sarah Silver Hands is listed as a faery tale opera for all ages and that can't be denied. When one arrives at the theatre you are welcomed to a world that the typical stage does not offer. The set and costumes are so vivid and alive with a seasonal look as it is set in a Fall type fairy kingdom and it is invaded by a Winter kingdom witch. The cast is top notch. The singing is very well done even if it is not in your typical opera sound. The female leads of Christine Achico and Betsy McCann are alive with action, character and are so much fun to watch. Another two character actress that brings two very different characters to life is Melissa Vogt-Patterson. To be scary and aluring at the same exact moment is nothing new that she has brought to the stage. The supporting cast (if you want to call them that) shine and have all their own little moments for most part of showing their character and singing abilities. Collapse
