    Come create Papier-mâché Skulls & Skeletons!

    Students 12 and under must be accompanied by a participating adult who has paid in full. Limit 2 youth per adult.

    Join instructor Pilar Castrejón in making a papier-mâché skeleton! Work alone or collaborate with a partner in honoring a deceased loved one as you personalize their skeleton. Learn and apply basic papier-mâché construction techniques to create one of a kind suspended sculptures. Add folklore to our Día de los Muertos celebration, held October 29th, by exhibiting your finished papier-mâché skeleton at the event!

     

    Button Accordion for Beginners

    Class instrument provided!

    Join musician Susan Torres as she teaches the basics of the button accordion. The button accordion is used in a variety of genres, such as Conjunto, Tejano, Cumbia, and more. Learn the break down of song components, and practice techniques which will advance your playing.

    No prior musical experience is required!

    Class instrument is provided along with a one-hour-a-week studio practice pass.

    Yoga in Spanish -Free Trial Class October 4th!

    ¡Yoga en Español! Come and explore yoga in the language that fully embodies the qualities of yoga - heart felt and expressive. Open to Spanish speakers and anyone interested in experiencing the Spanish language in this exciting and kinesthetic way!

    Viva Lucha - Mask Making Mania!

    Join us at the MACC for a one-day workshop where you will explore the exciting history and mythology of Mexico's greatest sport spectacle, Lucha Libre! You will also create your own luchador alter-ego and craft a ring-ready, one-of-a-kind mask. No costume design or sewing experience necessary. Presented by master seamstress Delilah Mong and lucha aficionado Paul Del Bosque.

    All Spanish-learner spaces FULL. English-learner spaces available!

    This program provides an opportunity for English-learners and Spanish-learners to meet to improve their language skills through one-to-one conversation in both languages. To aid conversation, each week a different theme will be suggested for partners to ask one another. This free program is open to anyone who is willing to share an hour of conversation in each language. Join Mary Willis, published writer and certified ESL teacher, as she facilitates this informal language group. Space is limited; call to reserve your spot today!

     

    FREE! Sugar Skull Workshops

    Join us, as we prepare for Día de los Muertos at the MACC, and learn the art of sugar skull making, an important and 'sweet' part of the traditional holiday. During these hands-on workshops, both children and adults are invited to help us create sugar skulls for our annual event! Participants will learn more about the significance of Día de los Muertos through beginning construction of sugar skulls using calavera (skull) molds. As a bonus, all participants will receive a voucher to redeem a free skull that may be decorated during the Día de los Muertos Celebration!
