“This is not about me and my mother,” the woman onstage called Lisa keeps insisting, with mounting frustration. But of course, you instantly know Lisa Kron's play is all about a mother and daughter. It is also a cheeky, fourth-wall-smashing seriocomedy about the collision of art and life. And, for good measure, it reminds us of the infinite, confounding complexity of human beings – especially your own parents.

A Different Stages production directed by Norman Blumensaadt with Sarah Seaton as Lisa and Jennie Underwood as her mother.

      This show is a lot of fun. I got way more than I expected from this unusual theater event. Sarah Seaton and Jennifer Underwood give excellent performances as the leads. And all the supporting cast are... Expand

      This show is a lot of fun. I got way more than I expected from this unusual theater event. Sarah Seaton and Jennifer Underwood give excellent performances as the leads. And all the supporting cast are wonderful too. Norman Blumensaadt has put together a top notch production. As Lisa tries to sort out her feelings about her mother and the effect her mother has has on her life, we cannot tell if she is talking to herself or the other characters or the audience members. Are we at a play or a meet-up? It blew my mind. Everyone go to this show. Collapse
