  Can you keep a secret? Come join Neil Simon’s crazy cast of characters at the townhouse of the New York City deputy mayor and his wife to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. The only catch is that the host has shot himself in the head (it’s only a flesh wound) and his wife is missing! Their friends attempt to cover up the situation, but the cover-up gets crazier and harder to sustain as more guests arrive and no one remembers who has told what to whom. Audiences will be delighted by the hilarity as Simon excels in presenting the frustrations and fun of life with delicious humor. “Broadway has something to cheer about again.” – New York Post. Starring an all-star cast including Michelle Cheney, Jonathan Urso, Wendy Zavaleta, Scot Friedman, Melinda Peinado, Tony Salinas, Rachel McGinnis, Daniel Sawtelle, Lindsay McKenna and Bobby DiPasquale.

      Rumors is a comedy about four couples going to a 10th year wedding anniversary party. When they arrive they find out that the host has shot himself and his wife is no where to be seen and that is... Expand

      Rumors is a comedy about four couples going to a 10th year wedding anniversary party. When they arrive they find out that the host has shot himself and his wife is no where to be seen and that is when the rumors start. This play has a wonderful cast that makes the play very enjoyable. An outstanding performance by Rachel McGinnis as the suspicious wife who believes her husband has been having an affair. She is very convincing as the betrayed wife. Wendy Zavaleta has wonderful comic timing and delivers her lines with great ease. The set consists of many doors in which the actors enter and exit thru out the play. The set seemed to be a little unstable and this made for times when I was concerned that something might fall or break. The play has many funny laugh out loud moments. The entire cast had perfect timing when called for to react as one big group. Collapse

      Congrats to City Theatre on a successful opening weekend of Rumors. What a perfect show to begin their sixth season. I think it is one of Neil Simon's funniest plays. And fantastic casting across the board having tons of fun with gun shots, bloody noses, burnt fingers, back spasms, and some serious, well, hilarious dancing. I had a ball! Go see it. You will, too.       When you see Neil Simon you know you are getting something of note. When you read the program for City Theatre of the cast assembled you get an idea of the quality of theatre they provide. Is Rumors... Expand

      When you see Neil Simon you know you are getting something of note. When you read the program for City Theatre of the cast assembled you get an idea of the quality of theatre they provide. Is Rumors for everyone? No. There is some language and adult information. For me it does not subtract but adds to the script. I want to address first the set and costumes. Are they important? Here they are not. The ladies and gents on the stage could have performed in street clothes (granted for a dinner party it would not have worked) The cast melded well together and when things got tough there was always someone to help. Pacing and line delivery are vital for this piece and this cast met that challenge. I have seen Michelle Cheney, Wendy Zavaleta and Rachel McGinnis perform before and they never looked better. Scot Friedman and Daniel Sawtelle were priceless. Jonathan Urso, Melinda Peinado and Tony Salinas fit their characters like a glove. Officer Welch and Pudney even made most of their scenes. Collapse
