With remakes and adaptations outnumbering original films by 4 to 1, it’s clear that Hollywood is determined to shit in every nostalgic corner of our brains. But back in the ‘80s, sequels were king, often jumping through flaming hoops to outdo the previous installment in sheer insanity (if not budget). FRIGHT NIGHT PART 2 is a perfect example: a barbarous self-vampirization of the 1985 original, but with a half-dozen bonus monsters and the triumphant return of the great Roddy McDowall as not-so-fearless vampire hunter Peter Vincent. This time, the bloodsuckers are partying hard on the college campus, doing everything from climbing walls to using human heads as bowling balls. See an enormous man eat a moth and then get in a dog-bark argument with a werewolf, brilliantly played by Alamo favorite Jon Gries (TERRORVISION; JOYSTICKS). Come enjoy this slab of hilarious undead hostility before they “re-imagine” it starring Jack Black or Carrot Top or whatever. Jesus christ.
