Coming direct from Beijing, this spectacular troupe was established by the government of the People's Republic of China more than 60 years ago and is making its inaugural United States tour in 2011. Having already toured to more than 40 countries around the globe, the company also operates one of the world's largest Acrobatic and Circus Arts Centers.       This show’s painted backdrop is a view of the universe, because the National Acrobats of China are out of this world. Superlatives are simply inadequate to describe this direct-from-Beijing, award-winning troupe. Thankfully, they finally made it to the U.S. Like the Olympics, the program has impressive opening and closing ceremonies complete with graceful dancing and colorful costumes. Each titled act is fully described in the program – read ahead. Until you actually see 10 dancing women each holding long sticks with 10 spinning plates doing unbelievable tricks like standing on one foot on another person’s head, you can’t appreciate the athleticism. Balance, contortion, grace, strength, and precision coordination are combined to showcase nine more dazzling, acrobatic, tumbling and juggling performances. The Company owns the Institution for Acrobatic Schooling, Training & Repertoire with more than 150 resident performers and 500 students. So expect – and don’t miss -- more U.S. visits. Collapse

      Nope. Not enough positive adjectives in a dictionary to do this acrobatic troupe, diverse program and directors true justice. Seriously. They’re spectacular, incredible, splendid, amazing, beautiful, elegant, enchanting, dazzling, heart-stopping, riveting. Get the idea? I’ll even add inspirational. Surely the Nat’l Acrobats of The People’s Republic of China are its nation’s awesome living treasure. The Beijing-based Company, around since 1950, has toured more than 40 countries, but this is, ironically, its inaugural visit to the U.S. & Canada. There are many stars, all fantastic, attractive athletes, even the clowns who added humor to often startling feats of balance, strength and grace: the 2,000-year-old “Flying Meteors” act, the gravity-challenging hoop tumbles, umbrella juggling, the synchronicity of human pyramids, unbelievable contortionists, bicycle skills with 10 women on one rolling bike, sassy Zhao Hanlong’s bouncing balls hand juggling.
