Mexic-Arte Museum’s Día de los Muertos festival “Viva la Vida” is one of the longest-running and most popular annual events celebrating Mexican and Mexican American heritage in Austin. For twenty-eight years the festival has brought art, music, educational activities, and an exciting costumed Grand Procession to downtown Austin.
Viva la Vida 2011 features:
Live music, art and food vendors, and cooking demonstrations on 5th Street between Congress & Brazos between 2 and 10PM
Grand Procession beginning at Plaza Saltillo and ending at 5th and Congress from 6-7PM
Family activities including a children’s costume contest and a parade preview at Plaza Saltillo at 5th and Comal from 2-5PM
