6 Guitars is an award-winning one-man show that is unlike anything you’ve seen before. One performer, 6 characters, lots of music and laughs. Chase Padgett delivers a breakthrough performance as he becomes 6 different guitar players each with their own voice, views and music while also playing standard and original songs in the styles of Blues, Jazz, Rock, Classical, Folk and Country. The show takes the audience along each character’s first introduction to the music they love, the lessons they’ve learned through music along the way and finally what the true importance of music really is to us all. It’s sure to make you laugh, love and tap your toes the whole way through.

6 Guitars premiered at the 2010 Orlando International Fringe Festival where it won: Producer of the Year, Best in Venue, Best Musician, Best Solo Show, Best Original Play and Best Male Performer. The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel wrote, “It’s just one guy – and one guitar – but it’s amazing!” Rochester (N.Y.) City Newspaper said, “Padgett glides effortlessly from character to character.”

      Wished the show could have stayed longer. The imagination of Chase Padget and Jay, the script writer were so well crafted. This was a wonderful 90 minutes of heartfelt history of musical genre, improvisastion at it's best, charming, engaging and the guitar virtuoso by Mr. Padgett was spectacular, I wanted to hear more. Cleverly written and for those of you at ACL, you missed a wonderful show. Let's rally to get 6 Guitars back to Austin. Collapse

      6 Guitars is a delightful, entertaining show with humor and heart that is cleverly written and well performed by Chase Padgett. I enjoyed his portrayals of 6 different genres of music and the men who love them. He flows easily from one character to the other throughout the show weaving the music and message from each together. He engages the audience with the characters while talking and singing and also with some improv (no pulling on stage, all easy and comfortable). I enjoyed his acting, singing, and guitar playing. This show has won several awards and is Off Broadway bound for a run in a month or so. Only one more chance to see it here at the Blue Theater Sat. night. Go and take friends. You'll all have fun, understand the title of this review, and feel the message of the show. Collapse

      Chase Padgett brings his Florida sensibilities to exploring six guitar players of six genres of music. He is clever and can play the guitar pretty well in all styles. I particularly liked his blues... Expand

      Chase Padgett brings his Florida sensibilities to exploring six guitar players of six genres of music. He is clever and can play the guitar pretty well in all styles. I particularly liked his blues and country stylings. It did not work for me to hear jazz and classical on an electric guitar. Chase is young and did not understand folk music at all. He did get blues right - it is about honesty, and, as the bluesman says, "you got to be 100% honest, not 50%". To me Chase was about 50% of the way to understanding his characters. Collapse

      If you are overwhelmed with ACL and want to escape it, head on down to the Blue Theatre and catch this sweet one man show. Chase Padgett takes you on a lovely journey through 6 genre's of music using just one guitar, weaving in and out of perhaps some sterotypical characters, but with a genuine love for all kinds of music. Although I wish he would have kept playing the classical piece longer, I had a great time and certainly enjoyed his multi-layered take on Imagine at the close of his show. Recommended. And I think it is 2 for 1 this weekend. Check it out. Collapse
