The Ducks do not understand the Squirrels and the Squirrels are terrified of the Ducks…This new play examines why neighbors often can not get along when the problem is only found in their minds.

      "Ducks vs. Squirrels" was my first Pollyanna Theatre Company show, and I'm glad I was able to go, as many of my weekday mornings are free. It was such a charming, enjoyable production, with an eye-capturing set, a plotline that kids can follow, and excellent stylized acting from the whole cast. It's about a group of squirrels and a group of ducks, both living in proximity to a park, and harboring mutual suspicion. When the squirrels go to dig up some nuts in the park and encounter the ducks, all the built-up suspicion and prejudice comes to a head. The leaders of each camp want war, but the kids in each camp, after actually talking to "the other" think that the two can get along. At its heart, this is a story about the necessity of not assuming that someone is an enemy, or that just because you think someone is "weird," that you shouldn't talk to them. I appreciated how these lessons were imparted through wacky, kid-friendly humor. This show is not just for kids, so check it out! Collapse
