    Join us for the fifth annual Austin African American Book Festival: Deliberate and Unafraid, Black Literary Voices, which features The New York Times best selling author Sister Souljahand education expert Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu.
    Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu will address parents, educators, and community activists at 10a.m. Friday, June 24, in the museum’s Boyd Vance Theater. A specialworkshop for youth starts at 11:45 a.m. in the theater as well.
    Best selling author Sister Souljah will speak and sign books Saturday, June 25, at 1:30 p.m. in the Boyd Vance Theater.
    This year’s festival also showcases the work of Roslyn Story, Dr. Tiffany Gill, Dr. Moe Anderson, EvelynPalfrey, and Shirley Sprinkles.

    The African American Book Festival promotes empowerment through literature. In the past the festival hosted such notable authors as Leonard Pitts, Sam Greenlee and Annette Gordon-Reed. The festival is made possible through a collaboration of community, writersand festival organizers who seek to highlight the literary works by and about African Americans.
