Joanna Newsom's Appalachian-meets-avant-garde take on folk music generally falls under the new “indie-folk” label if you read many music blogs. The classically trained harpist and other-worldly singer has a decidedly different, textural sound that’s impossible to describe, and impossible to forget. Her sold-out performance at the Paramount last November was one of the most talked about concerts of the year. You won't want to miss her return.
