Few musical artists résumés list membership in a band inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame; fewer still can lay claim to being a founding member of the pioneers of Country Rock; and only one artist can include all the above in addition to being one half of the most successful duo of the 1970s – that’s Jim Messina. A supremely talented guitarist and vocalist, Messina, alongside Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay, formed the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group, Buffalo Springfield – one of the ‘60’s most influential bands. Their hit single “For What It’s Worth” holds the #63 position on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Messina and Furay went on to form the seminal country rock band Poco in 1968 - their debut Pickin’ Up The Pieces is the only debut album ever to receive a perfect rating from Rolling Stone magazine. Joining Kenny Loggins in 1971, the duo of Loggins & Messina became one of the most successful recording duos ever, selling over sixteen million albums. The duo joined forces again for an extensive tour in 2009. Messina is hitting the road again today, with guitar in hand; bringing the stories and singing the songs that made Buffalo Springfield, Poco, and Loggins & Messina, iconic American groups.
