     SVT Kids! Summer Camp 2011

    [SESSIONS IN JULY AND AUGUST, SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS]

    Salvage Vanguard Theater presents: SVT Kids!, an educational program that nurtures the student’s creative voice while building teamwork, confidence and communication skills. Summer camps are offered half day. 9am-12:00pm ages 5-7 and 1pm-4pm ages 8-14. Each week ends with a sharing of performance for family and friends.

    Morning camp * AGES 5-7

    SVT Musical Theatre
    July 25-July29 * 9am-12pm
    Act! Sing! Dance! Perform! Bring on the old razzle dazzle and explore your creative side as we blend music, dance and theatre. All levels welcome...5, 6, 7, 8!
    Camp fee: $175

    THAT OLD GREEN MAGIC
    Aug 1-Aug 5 * 9am-12pm
    Recycle, Reuse, and Presto! Work with the classic theme of wizards, fairytales and fantasy with a green twist! Explore creative movement and improvisation. Use recycled materials to create props and costume pieces worthy of your magical powers!
    Camp fee: $150

    CLASSIC COMEDY!
    Aug 8-Aug 12 * 9am-12pm
    Reach back to the days of classic comedians! The birth of cartoons! Create a character or steal from your favorite Saturday morning buddy and learn how to tell a story with only the use of facial expression and your body. (And fun props too!) Physical comedy and pantomime! We will write, act and produce our very own live cartoon that is sure to have the stage in stitches!
    Camp fee $150

    ALIENS ATTACK!
    Aug 15-19 * 9am-12pm
    SVT goes UFO! Jump into the black hole and explore the mysteries of outer space! We will write a script and explore the stars! Astronauts, martians, and alien queens welcome...

    Afternoon camp * AGES 8-14

    HIP HIP HOP
    Aug 1-Aug 5 * 1pm-4pm
    Hip hop onto the stage as we get into our bodies and dance to the beat. Students will learn hip-hop, jazz and modern dance as well as learn improvisation through beat boxing!
    Camp fee: $150

    SHOW AND TELL
    Aug 15-Aug 19 * 1pm-4pm
    This week we will jump into the world of OBJECT THEATRE. We will become storytellers and work the most unusual and transformative of scene partners, found objects! Participants are asked to bring 4 objects from home. Together we will explore our props in new and imaginative ways to create a performance that both our players and our audience won't forget!
    Camp fee: $150

    Teacher BIO

    Adriene Mishler is a Performer, Teacher and Austinite. She has worked on numerous stages with Salvage Vanguard, Rubber Repertory, Tongue & Groove, The Rude Mechs, Paper Chairs, Refraction Arts, St Idiot Collective, Ariel Dance Theatre and ZACH. Adriene is an actor and producer of site-specific work who loves to blend local theatre, film, music and dance. She is a company member of Ariel Dance Theatre and SVT where she also serves as the Education Coordinator. Adriene delights in the joy of arts education and is dedicated to using theatre and movement as a way to help young people discover creative self-expression and learn collaboration. By day Adriene is a certified Yoga instructor and teaches Theatre Arts and Musical Performance at The Griffin School, a private high school with a focus on the arts.
