    Morning care will be available from 8 – 9am for full day, on-site camps.

    Ages 4-6

    Looking for a unique and fun learning and socialization experience for your 4-6 year old child? Then you’ll love our half day camps! Kids will try experiments, make arts and crafts, learn to work as a team, cooperate and share in an informal, yet structured environment (1:5 counselor/student ratio). Activities may include Storytime, snack time, arts, science activity stations, music and movement, guided adventures with our imaginations and free play in the Museum.

    Crazy for Critters

    Do you love creatures of all kinds? Explore the extraordinary world of animals as you learn about fearsome predators, crafty camouflages, tender parents, and mammals that defy gravity! We’ll dance and sing, hear stories, make snacks, work puzzles, and do science and math activities while we investigate what makes these critters so amazing. Don’t miss out on all the furry, scaly, slimy fun! 


    Cooking with Math
    June 13-17 (am)
    July 5-8 (am), 4-day week - $30 off
    August 1-5 (am)
    This camp has everything kitchen helpers need to hone your cooking AND math skills! Enjoy cutting, rolling, spreading, stirring, mashing, kneading, mixing, measuring, sorting, shaping, classifying and more, as you practice being a chef! All recipes are geared to single servings, so every child will make each of the two daily recipes from start to finish! REGISTER!

    Young Scientists
    May 31-June 3 (am), 4-day week - $30 off

    August 8-12 (am) GIRLS ONLY!
    Have a blast being a scientist as you make fantastic fizzes and slimy surprises, mix your own colors, build mini rockets and cook up biotic treats! Becoming young scientific thinkers means asking lots of questions and experimenting. You’ll love discovering scales, playing with magnets and magnifying glasses and so much more, while learning about your world. 

    Dino Mania
    May 31-June 3 (pm), 4-day week - $30 off

    This camp is especially designed for the aspiring paleontologist with tons of activities, stories, songs, skill-builders and games centered on the ancient creatures you love! Make arts and crafts, learn the names of favorite dinos, make tooth necklaces, play dino concentration, make a hatching baby dino, excavate tiny dinos and so much more dino fun! 

    EcoSafari
    June 20-24 (am)
    August 22-26 (am)
    Climb on board as we journey around the world exploring ecosystems. From the freezing Arctic to the sizzling desert to the depths of the ocean, discover how living things survive in these extreme environments. We’ll create animal arts and crafts, play habitat games, act like predators, experiment with blubber, sing songs, conduct science experiments, and much more! 

    Bodies, Brains, and Bones!
    June 6-10 (am)
    July 18-22 (am)
    Skip, jump, leap, and run to this fun camp where we’ll discover what makes us humans so special! We’ll explore our five senses, compare our skeletons to other animals, use our muscles to dance, balance and roll, and examine x-rays to see what our bones look like. We’ll draw self-portraits, race our hands and feet, do some body math measurements, and much more!

    Full Day Camps, On-site with field trips
    Ages 7-10
    Children will look forward to field trips at exciting places, experiencing innovative hands-on activities, eating lunch in the park, watching an on-topic educational video and playing in the Museum! Our teachers will keep your kids engaged and safe, with a 1:6 counselor/student ratio, while they explore and learn.
    *Field trip destinations listed here are subject to availability. In the event a field trip is cancelled it will be replaced with a similar field trip.

    Girls Explore Science
    July 5-8, 4-day week - $45 off
    August 15-19
    Girls rule the museum this week! You’ll have a blast experiencing different science careers in our hands-on camp. Field trips will take you to meet truly inspiring role models at University of Texas labs and in the Austin science community. Then we’ll head back to the Museum to try all the science out for ourselves by making shrinky dinks, concocting glitter slime, and designing a circuit bracelet! 

    Engineer It!
    June 6-10
    July 18-22
    Design, invent, and build in this fun camp! Field trips will include the University of Texas, where we may visit the Chemical Engineering Lab and the Nanoscience Center. Back at the Museum we’ll design a confetti launcher, invent contraptions to help the planet, use a zip line to hit a target, and much more! We’ll work in teams to take on real-world challenges, all while honing creative problem solving skills. 

    Get a Clue
    June 13-17
    August 1-5
    Growing gumshoes will love discovering the mystery behind science, and the science behind mystery! We’ll sharpen our logic and detective skills by starting each day with a riddle. Field trips may include the Driskill Hotel, where we’ll investigate its haunting history, and AMOA, where we’ll learn some of art’s best kept secrets. Back at the Museum we’ll refine our problem solving skills by cracking codes, finding fingerprints, exploring optical illusions and more! We’ll wrap up our week by working together to collect clues and solve a real mystery! 

    Home Grown Cooking
    March 14-18
    June 20-24
    July 25-29
    We let the young chefs out of the kitchen and take you on field trips to discover locally grown foods in Austin! We’ll discover how to cook tasty foods that can also be healthy, and use everyday kitchen items to investigate the science of cooking. Field trips may include Amy’s Ice Cream, Whole Foods and a local farm where you can pick your own vegetables. Sign up now to add some yummy science to your summer and let us kick it up a notch!

    Up, Up, and Away!

    July 11-15
    Come fly with me! During this camp we’ll discover how animals and aircraft take off and stay up in the air. We’ll construct all sorts of flying contraptions and meet some of nature’s winged friends. Field trips may include a visit with birds of prey, Camp Mabry Air Force Base, and the UT Aerospace Engineering labs. Don’t miss out on all the flying fun! 

    smART Camp
    June 27-July 1
    August 8-12
    Emerging artists will love creating masterful works of art while exploring the science involved in artistic processes. Using the science of motion and balance, we’ll create mobile masterpieces. We’ll experiment with photography and create electric light images. Our field trips may take us to Arthouse and AMOA, and we’ll observe local artists in their studios. Back at the Museum, we will install an exhibit of your works of art and invite family and friends to attend the art show.

    Maximum enrollment is 20 students per camp. Selected spots are reserved for girls; unfilled spots will be released for general enrollment 6 weeks prior to the start of camp.

     

     

    Mindstorming a LEGO Village
    Join the team to design an interactive LEGO® Mindstorms® village. Pet shops, zoos, hotels, and museums - our village needs you and your imagination! Campers will learn how to program sensors, motors, and robots to create their own piece of a city.

    Treasure Hunters!
    Deep in the jungle, a hidden treasure awaits discovery. You and your team must program your robots to find the treasure and bring it back without succumbing to the many traps set for you. Adventurers of all experience levels will enjoy exercising their creativity and imagination in this fun camp!
    Robotics Camp For Kids Completing Grades 3, 4, & 5

    Program, Animate, and Create!
    Design games and create animations using Scratch, a computer programming language made for kids. Campers will make their own game controllers, program sensors and motors to make a Future House, and make an interactive mini-golf course.
