Five x Seven is an art sale and exhibition benefiting Arthouse exhibitions and educational programs. Hundreds of recognized contemporary artists with strong Texas ties create unique works of art on identical 5” x 7” boards. Each 5×7-inch artwork is only $150, $100 for Arthouse members (yet ANOTHER great reason to become an Arthouse member today !).
With hundreds of works to choose from, this is your chance to have first pick and build or add to your art collection. All pieces are displayed anonymously – only when you purchase a work of art will you discover who created it.

      This is the third 5x7 party I have been to (in other years I have attended the patron's/purchasers party and the artists' social.) Firstly, I regret to say that the quality of the artwork itself... Expand

      This is the third 5x7 party I have been to (in other years I have attended the patron's/purchasers party and the artists' social.) Firstly, I regret to say that the quality of the artwork itself has fallen and I cannot believe this show is to travel. Secondly, I was disappointed with the low-rent feeling of this year's fete. It may be that the organizers felt that starving artists would appreciate quantity over quality, but the tables laden with donated pizzas still in the boxes, the garbage cans filled with energy water--and, oh yes, that charming crock pot filled with hot dogs- seemed to me to be an affront to the artists (whether I think their work merits multiple venues or not) who support the organization to as high a degree as those who wrote checks for their disregardable output.       I do not like being critical in a negative fashion but this was just bad. The sad thing is it had all the elements to be good despite of a lot of bad artwork. I know Austin is a great music city - the... Expand

      I do not like being critical in a negative fashion but this was just bad. The sad thing is it had all the elements to be good despite of a lot of bad artwork. I know Austin is a great music city - the best in my opinion but we are really weak in visual art. An opportunity like this should be used to grow visual art. By that I mean not organized like a last minute frat party. It was a challenge to get around the place. The booze blocked the entry and folks not interested in the exhibit had no place to stand and visit other than to block the natural exhibit viewing path. The food was shoved in the corner with no thought given to traffic flow causing even more congestion. As well, it was below average and very poorly presented. There was a lot of really bad art which simply should not be on exhibit and some good art I wish I had had more time to view but was rushed due to the poor logistics and flow. Austin deserves better!! Much better!!! Collapse
