     Arthouse at the Jones Center presents Creative Capital’s Professional Development Program Core Weekend Workshop, June 24- June 26

    The Core Weekend Workshop is an intensive two and a half days described as a “crash course in self-management, strategic planning, fundraising and promotion.” Based on a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum, the workshop format employs lectures, peer critiques, one-on-one consultations, interactive exercises, handouts and written assignments to introduce business skills to a group of up to 24 participants.

    CRITERIA
    The Creative Capital Professional Development Workshop is open to emerging artists who are Arthouse members living in Austin and the immediately surrounding area (Travis, Williamson, and Hays counties). For information on becoming a member of Arthouse, please click here. Artists currently enrolled in a degree seeking program through September 2011 are not eligible. Applicants from diverse populations are encouraged to apply.

    • Applicants must be generative visual artists (i.e., artists who create original works of art).
    • Applicants should be practicing / professional artists who have been working professionally for at least 3 years. Applicants should regard themselves are emerging in the field.
    • For this application process, a practicing/professional artist is defined as a person who creates, on an ongoing basis, original works of art and is pursuing this work as a means of livelihood, or a way to achieve the highest level of professional recognition.

    If you would like to be considered to participate in the Arthouse Creative Capital Professional Development Workshop, please submit on a CD-ROM, formatted for viewing on a PC, the following materials:

    • No more than 10 digital files. Images not to exceed 3MB each. Please organize digital files in a PowerPoint or Adobe slideshow format. Captions should include title, date, media and dimensions. Images should be from the past 3 years.
    • Artist bio or resume with home address, preferred phone number, and email address, saved as a Microsoft word document or PDF file.
    • Support material, if applicable (one review, essay, or article) saved as a PDF file.
    • Statement of intent: Why do you want to attend the Creative Capital Professional Development Workshop? Approximately 500 words.
    • Media and performance artists may submit one CD-ROM or DVD, total running time not to exceed 20 minutes.
    • If a subsidy is requested, please submit a statement of approximately 250 words which addresses the nature of your past or current financial challenges.

    Artists will be notified of their acceptance via email. Submissions must be postmarked by May 6, 2011.
    Regretfully, proposals that do not meet the above criteria or those received after the deadline will not be considered. E-mailed submissions will not be accepted.
