A hilariously insightful show dealing with how men and women relate. Both sexes will roar with
laughter at the origins of male and female behavior, marriage and more. You’ll chuckle and
laugh about all the ways men and women fight, laugh and love. Skip the therapy session and take the man in your life …please! Contains adult language.

      Must’ve been an audience of Cro-Magnons and Neanderthals Friday night! They were slow on some of the hilarious insights in ways men and women relate, fight, laugh, love. But each gender recognized the situations comedian-actor Paul Perroni recounted and reacted raucously. It’s not one-sided. Even the Wilma Flintstones and Betty Rubbles among us were analyzed. Arkansas native Perroni earned his chops at the Loony Bin Comedy Club in Chicago but has lots of other stage, film and commercial work that infuse his excellent stage presence. “DTC” is described as a “one-man play.” It does have clever video, projected visuals, a set of sorts (stone chair and TV, faux cave paintings); even props, a spear and feathered “thingy.” But it’s really an extended, stand-up comedy routine. I’d like to have seen this show before it outgrew comedy clubs and embraced performing arts centers worldwide (Now at 45 countries; 30 languages. Writer Rob Becker must be happily absorbed counting his royalties!) Collapse

      No arguing with the New York Times: This show is “a comic phenomenon.” Like many patrons, I elbowed my spouse and exchanged knowing looks. This play could be a subtle, cathartic kind of comic... Expand

      No arguing with the New York Times: This show is “a comic phenomenon.” Like many patrons, I elbowed my spouse and exchanged knowing looks. This play could be a subtle, cathartic kind of comic couples counseling... could help the genders understand the cultural differences, even if they can’t always applaud the behavior. Might even elicit some improved relationship behavior. This show would play better in a smaller venue, although at the expense of box office receipts. One could better see comedian Paul Perroni’s facial expressions & gestures and hear some of the funny audience feedback. Paul’s delivery and timing are excellent. Don’t expect a unified audience laugh-burst, because the humorous observations strike gender funny bones at different speeds and with widely varying impact. (Recalled real-life scenarios slow down the laugh process.) “Defending...” mixes anthropology, prehistory, psychology, sociology, mythology with hilarity, a touch of vulgarity and some unnecessary profanity Collapse
