Tapestry Singers (the Austin Women?s Chorus) will present a concert to celebrate Nature and Life at 7:30 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2011. The concert will be held at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 8134 Mesa Drive in Austin. Tickets are available in advance from any Tapestry Singers’ member, online at www.tapestrysingers.org, or at the door on the evening of the performance.
Tapestry’s 60-member ensemble is offering works by such artists as Carly Simon, Sweet Honey and the Rock, Eric Whitacre, and Gwyneth Walker. Other arrangements include text by authors James Joyce, A.E Housman, Rudyard Kipling.
Since 1987, Tapestry Singers has encouraged women, regardless of race, color, sexual identity, or vocal confidence, to explore their singing abilities and to experience the joy and healing that comes from music and singing. We have two major performances per year. Our smaller ensemble, Loose Threads, performs at every concert and is also available for special engagements.
