Create Your Own Children's Books

Learn the essentials of creating a unique children's picture book. We'll cover the craft of writing for the picture book format, create a series of character illustrations and work towards building a dummy book. We'll also discuss the business side of children's books and the practicalities of getting one published. There will be time to experiment with media, but students will work in the medium they feel most comfortable for portfolio pieces. Students should bring a draft of an original story or an existing fairy tale to the first class.
