Nationally produced playwright Thomas Ward is offering a playwriting workshop at the Round Rock Public Library on Saturday, January 22nd. Mr. Ward will be joined by his wife, Sherry Jo Ward, with whom he wrote Going with Jenny, which is receiving its regional premiere at the same location.

In their workshop, titled Writing Real Life (and making it more interesting), the Wards will talk about the process of turning "real life" into theatrical life. The maxim of "write what you know" will be discussed and dissected with the following questions in mind: How do I find “my stuff”? What do I want to write about? How do I find theme without forcing it? Is it okay to lie for the sake of story? How important is structure and how do you build it? What is genre and how do I find the right tone? Participants will be writing and are encouraged to bring whatever suits their process best: laptop, notepad and pen, cocktail napkins, etc.

For those who also attend the January 22nd performance of Going with Jenny, the Wards will be available for a question and answer session following the play.
