Imagine a place where artists Terry Allen, Michael Ray Charles, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Melissa Miller, James Surls, and Julie Speed, among others, collaborated with master printmakers to stretch the limits of their practice and the media. That place has thrived for twenty years in the form of Austin-based Flatbed Press, an active laboratory for innovative printmaking.

This exhibition focuses on how Flatbed Press has worked together with an array of nationally and internationally renowned artist to combine new technologies with traditional equipment and processes to yield this surprising diversity of prints. Alongside the prints, Collection Selections presents paintings, drawings, and sculptures by featured Flatbed printmakers.

      What a wonderful collection of printmaking history here in Austin! This is definitely an exhibit to see at least once if not several times!!

      I like the idea of a showing a collection of prints. The pieces they have display a variety of styles, which was great. As usual, AMOA has put together an interesting and thought-provoking collection.

      I am a big fan or printmaking, so I was really excited to see this show. I loved how the subject matter was so different from artist to artist. I really enjoyed the mix of the prints of people or... Expand

      I am a big fan or printmaking, so I was really excited to see this show. I loved how the subject matter was so different from artist to artist. I really enjoyed the mix of the prints of people or political messages mashed up with some really traditional subject matter, like Hercules and the Hydra. Some of the plates, and a lot of the printmaking tools were on display, too, so it was really interesting to see those along with the prints they produced. Collapse
