Vegas-style singer/comedian/actress/model/Mexican Jade Esteban Estrada (Comedy Central, Bravo TV) returns to The Vortex with a glittery, all-new, high-energy, interactive showgasm. Part stand-up comedy, part Broadway-musical, Estrada brings his unique brand of hilarious, gender-swapping songs about his way too personal experiences of life on the road and run-ins with the rich and infamous in a post-gay, post-Hispanic world. Special appearances by the hottest names in Burlesque! Out Magazine calls him “the first gay Latin Star.” The Richmond-Times Dispatch calls him “a master entertainer.” We call him Gaylicious!

      I decided to see Gaylicious with the thought, "It would be fun to see a campy show" in my mind. I was surprised, though. Jade Esteban Estrada's one-man variety show certainly has camp, but his appeal... Expand

      I decided to see Gaylicious with the thought, "It would be fun to see a campy show" in my mind. I was surprised, though. Jade Esteban Estrada's one-man variety show certainly has camp, but his appeal is much broader than you might think. Further, it is not simply "gay activist theatre," though there are elements of that as well. Anyone who enjoys stand-up and character bits would enjoy Estrada's show. He started off with a song-and-dance number, "Shake it Up," wherein he energized the audience and made them laugh. He followed with a stand-up bit, which included self-deprecating humor- I recall that he said, "Mexico is so dirty because all the cleaning ladies are over here!" Then he did character monologues, which ranged from a Jewish mother to a cowboy, and Estrada nailed the characerizations every time. I was particularly happy that he did a monologue as Alan Turing. Jade is a funny, talented, and smart performer, and I hope we get to see him in Austin again. Collapse

      Jade Esteban Estrada is amazing and hilarious! Thank you Vortex for bringing him and the lovely and talented Coco Electric here to Austin! In one night I have become a lifelong fan!
