Printmaking
November 13-November 14, 2010
Add Review/Comment
Printmaking is the process of making artwork by printing, usually on paper, using a variety of techniques such as: woodcut, intaglio, lithography, silkscreen or monoprint. Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking technique, in which an image is drawn directly into a plate (or “matrix”) with a hard-pointed “needle” of sharp metal. In this class you will learn how to: prepare a plexiglas plate, incise an image into the plate with a needle, and finally, print an edition of the image using a small printing press. We will also discuss what printmaking offers as a creative process that can be explored in studios and galleries like Austin’s own Flatbed Press.
