WINTERREISE, or ‘Winter Journey’. Franz Schubert’s setting of 24 powerfully haunting poems by Wilhelm Müller. Composed at the end of his life, Schubert’s grippingly beautiful settings direct a musical/poetic magnifying-glass on loss, rejection, disillusionment, anger, wanderlust and resignation.
Winterreise will be presented with projected English translations during the performance.
