If Austin's Cathedral of Junk" piqued your curiosity, come see "The Sporting Life" by Vince Hannemann and other yard creations by Texans at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center starting Sept. 4. Yard art turns home landscapes into oases of art and exuberant personal expression. It reminds us that art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. The Texas Folklife Yard Show exhibit, organized by Texas Folklife and the San Angelo Museum of Fine Art, will be on display in the Wildflower Center demonstration gardens and in the McDermott Learning Center, where photos of yard art projects and decorative bird houses will be showcased. The exhibit based on landscape designer Jill Nokes’ book, "Yard Art and Handmade Places," runs through December 5. You can also visit the Texas Folklife gallery at 1317 S. Congress Ave.
