Matt Sadler is clearly another comedian who will extend the Austin tradition of local boys (& girls) making very good. Matt has lived in Austin for more than a dozen years (given the steady influx of artistic types who move here, this practically makes him a native), and took his first steps into professional joke-telling right here in Austin. After a number of years of very hard work--honing the performance, steadily writing new material, hitting the road to further develop his craft--he’s now a seasoned pro, with a slew of credits and accomplishments to do Austin proud. Examples? What is it with you pushy people? OK, keep your shirt on, I’ll give you examples--don’t I always? Heck, as far back as the late ‘90s--OK, very late: 1999--he was distinguishing himself locally and demonstrating he could play in the big leagues, when HBO conducted a talent search that drew more than 100 comedians, Matt was selected the best of the bunch, and flown out to Hollywood to hold forth there at the Improv. More recently, in 2005 to be exact, that experience was echoed somewhat during the Carnival Comedy Challenge--about 75 comics were vying in that contest, and if you’ve already figured out Matt took first place here, too, you’re starting to get the hang of this--and damn near as sharp as Matt is, if you don’t mind me saying so. (Even if you do.) So it probably goes without saying there are plenty of other triumphs in Matt’s career dossier.
