August 28-August 29, 2010
Add Review/Comment
Diverse Space Dance/Theater invites Austinites to dive into the issue of water conservation and protection with THIRST: A Eulogy to Water—a combination of artistic expression and environmental activism. The inspiring, innovative and environmentally awakening production will preview on Saturday, August 28 at 8 p.m. with a profound performance at the Rollins Studio Theatre at The Long Center for Performing Arts to raise funds to complete the project. Proceeds will fund the completion of the project through the upcoming, full March performances and THIRST: A Global Initiative. This project includes simultaneous performances in over 20 locations around the world in March 19 – 20, 2011 (and in March of 2012 and 2013 on the weekend of International Day of Water), coordinated by Diverse Space Dance/Theatre. As well as a full production on March 25-27, 2011. The production connects a variety of elements—choreography, video collaboration and aquatic imagery—to illustrate the multiple facets and layers of emotions involved with the issue of water conservation. It examines water as a resource, provokes deeper thought for our daily contribution toward water pollution and creates a metaphor for the troubled relationships we have both with each other and with nature.
