Featured guest artist will be Stephanie Chen. Stephanie, an award-winning pianist, is a graduate of Westwood High School (2007) and is entering her Senior year of study at Julliard this Fall. We are pleased to feature her and know that you won't want to miss her performance.
The program will open with selections transcribed for 4-hand piano from Mussorgsky's Pictures at An Exhibition. It will also include works by Granados, Ibert, Larsen, Rutter, Schumann and others that will be performed by various combinations of clarinet, flute, viola, and piano as well as solo piano.
Mussorgsky Pictures are based on drawings of characters, the Schumann and Larsen are based on paintings or scenes in nature, and the Granados work is based not on specific paintings but on all of Goya's paintings, which would depict a lifestyle or a specific view of life.
