    2010 marks a new decade and a new beginning for the annual SafePlace Celebration. We are pleased to announce on Thursday, November 18th & Friday, November 19th, SafePlace will present, as our speaker, Academy Award-winning actress and social activist, Olympia Dukakis. With two special film screenings of Steel Magnolias on Thursday night at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar and a luncheon with Olympia on Friday at the Hyatt Regency Town Lake, there will be a little something for everyone.

     

    With more than 35-years of experience working with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence in Austin/Travis County, SafePlace is an internationally recognized leader for its innovative and valuable programs. By providing a state-of-the-art emergency shelter; extensive transitional services; hospital advocacy for rape survivors; counseling, prevention and education programs, SafePlace offers critically needed services to survivors and engages the community in advancing alternatives in attitudes, behaviors and policies to impact our understanding and responses to sexual and domestic violence.         Tables for the SafePlace Celebration Luncheon are available for purchase and space is limited. Top table levels include tickets to the Alamo Drafthouse film screenings.

        Friday, November 19, 2010- SafePlace Celebration Luncheon, Hyatt Regency Town Lake from 11 am – 1 pm
