What might Great Britain be like if Germany had won World War II? Future film historian Kevin Brownlow decided to delve into an alternative history and show England under Nazi occupation. Pauline, a nurse, accepts a job with the official British collaborators, but the more she sees of atrocities committed by the fascist groups, she begins to sympathize with the partisans struggling against the occupying army and the British turncoats. Brownlow started the film when he was 18 and with the help of friends and other film artists completed it eight years later. It proved to be controversial from its very first screening and for US distribution seven minutes were cut. Milestone presents the complete, uncensored version of the film.
