It takes Big Balls to walk in Bon Scott’s shoes, and this band from Austin, Texas has the knobs enough to do it.
Paying tribute to AC/DC’s 1976-79 era, Big Balls rolls out all the energy, excitement and livewire electricity of a vintage AC/DC gig. Note-for-note flashbacks of “TNT,” “Highway To Hell ” and “Rosie”? Oi! Naughty schoolboy mischief spiked with dirty deeds guitar? Done (dirt cheap)!
Yes, the songs are every bit as rowdy as the classic originals (you’d expect as much from current and former members of Dangerous Toys, Adrenaline Factor and Dirty Looks) and, yes, there’s the mandatory Angus Young look-alike played by guitarist Paul Lidel, but it’s the problem-child swagger of singer Lee Scott that gives the dirty Big Balls an extra kick. Besides sounding eerily like AC/DC’s late, lamented howler (and proudly sharing the same surname to boot!), Scott also looks and acts the ringer with his sleeveless denim, stagger-sly strut and boozy, bad-boy banter.
