BLUE MAN GROUP is best known for wildly popular theatrical shows and concerts which combine comedy, music, and technology to produce a totally unique form of entertainment. The New York Times heralds the show as “One of the most delightful performance pieces ever staged.” E! Entertainment News says, “BLUE MAN GROUP is what every live performance aspires to be.” With no spoken language, BLUE MAN GROUP is perfect for people of all ages, languages, and cultures. Texas Performing Arts has expanded its Broadway Across America partnership to include the Long Center for the Performing Arts, bringing together two of Austin’s most outstanding performing arts presenters in an effort to elevate and expand an already stellar Broadway presence.

I don't want to give anything away, especially if you have never seen them before, but they were Awesome. Now the only thing I was disappointed in was I thinking there should have been more paint flying. The drumming was excellent, and
I do want to try my hand at making that "special drum". It was exciting and one of the BLUE MEN came right up to
my aisle and seemed to be looking at ME. There is audience participation that you don't want to miss.

Smiling and laughing an entire evening can wreak havoc on your cheeks. I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun. Blue Man Group is a must see again and again. Last night was filled with everything I’ve ever wanted in a fun night out. Great music, laser lights, comedy, dancing, audience participation; I could go on and on. A show for all ages, there is definitely something for everyone. I can’t wait for my next opportunity to see Blue Man Group again. You’d better get your tickets now before they sell out. You won’t be disappointed. Did I mention that this show was Phenomenal?

A chance to play with the Blue Man Group. Who could pass that up, with theatrical tricks, paints, audience involvement, nonstop, heart pumping. What a treat participate in the Blue Man Group. Serious into funny, and surprisingly educational, making learning fun (who knew). Mesmerizing and joyous. Didn't know much about their history, but went on line to read more about this marvelous group. All I can say is that everything you think you knew about them is much, much more. And NO Talking!

WARNING Run-on sentence ahead: IF you enjoy zany comedy, rhythmic drumming on large PVC pipes, HUGE drumming which you can feel vibrating in your chest (even if you are seated in the last row of Dell Hall), enormous balloons pulsating with colors as audience members buffet them around; gigantic i-Phones (“gi-phones”) with unusual apps, art produced from paintballs spewed from the mouth of a Blue Man; huge mirror screens with bizarre effects; audience participation including eating weird goo emitted from your chest vest; being covered with blue paint and swung against a huge canvas, or being central in an embarrassed latecomers plot, and shaking your booty for all your worth ... you will love this show. I know I did! But bring your opera glasses/binoculars if you're any distance from the stage, because even with the big screen view, the subtle facial expressions the performers exchange are priceless and at the heart of their humor. Your mood afterward will be anything but blue.

For 24 years, the Blue Man Group has had theatrical shows and concerts which combine comedy, music, multimedia and technology, appearing in theme parks (e.g., Disneyworld), concert halls and at special events. But the Austin stop, through 2/27, is part of its FIRST U.S. theatrical tour – 37 cities. One can collect adjectives about this show like a shiny string of pearls: delightful, unforgettable, wildly outrageous, intensely exciting, appealing (to all ages), wildly popular, unique. Those are a lot of other people’s modifiers. Here are mine: Comical, engaging, surprising, energetic, animated, charismatic, mind-boggling. Oh! Did I say “entertaining?” And in the Blue Man Group’s own words . . . well, they have NONE. Zero. Nada. The trio of performers has no voice; no ears for that matter! Just those blue heads and hands and the dark clothing. But there is a voice, the unseen M.C. as well as hilarious text messages in colorful, audience-interactive sketches. Austin – high-tech and (more)

I have been quite curious about the Blue Man Group, after having heard about them for years. No one who had seen them could describe their show very well. Having seen it, I understand the inability to categorize their performance; it is quite unlike anything else I have seen. If you like loud, pounding drums, a concert atmosphere, and sophomoric humor, this show is for you. The troupe entertains with paints on drums, giant iPhones, and some other visually stunning antics. Audience participation is encouraged as we played with giant balloon balls overhead, got to participate in typical concert movements, and more. Some audience members even get chosen to come onstage. Males may appreciate the humor more than females. Many of the antics got the reaction, “That’s disgusting,” from the audience. Of course, young boys loved it. If you are a bit older like me, earplugs may make it a much more pleasant experience for you. Apparently they offered them beforehand. (No intermission.)

If you’ve never seen Blue Man Group (BMG), here’s your chance! At The Long Center through 2/27/11, the world-class performance group is taking the stage to blow you away. They start out with the famous paint-splashing drums and move into painting canvasses with the splashes, then add paint-by-mouth (and body!). Using audience members as props as they come off of the stage – you soon realize the seats you thought were “safe” aren’t necessarily so. The guys combine comedy routines (all silent acting) along with amazing musical performances on PVC pipes and huge rubber balls, turning the evening into a huge party and rock concert. The costuming, lighting and all of the visuals are mind boggling, so many unique parts that once combined, leave you wanting more. The back-up band is top-notch and adds another dimension to the overall experience. If you’re lucky enough to be in the party-zone – you are right in the middle of the grande finale – which is a BLAST! Come and get your BMG-party ON!

Fun! Blue Man Group is very entertaining. They are talented, funny, and highly energetic. The visuals/lighting and music (live band, too) add so much to the show.To set the mood before the show there is intriguing music and a thoughtful written paragraph projected about sharing art and life. Then,a scrolling text above the stage begins the show. It is a welcome and includes text about a few people in the audience. It is positive, funny and has audience participation, reminding me of times of people yelling out during a Rocky Horror Picture Show movie. The show begins with great percussion, rock music, and the Men. Wonderful visual imagery, technology references, and lighting continue throughout the show only broken at times for "skits" with the audience. They are a talented group who move from playing various percussion items to catching paint balls in their mouths and making art on a canvas. The Long Center has perfect acoustics and seating for this show.A happy night for all!
