Moses Pendleton, artistic director Presented in partnership with L Style G Style In this highly anticipated Austin appearance, revolutionary dance company MOMIX brings its breathtaking fantasy piece Botanica to the Bass Concert Hall stage for two incredible evenings. Legendary choreographer Moses Pendleton combines athletic dance, riveting music, outrageous costumes, inventive props, and pure talent to create an unforgettable multimedia experience. Botanica transports you to a fantasy world of surreal images and childlike wonder brought to life by a cast of dancer-illusionists. Set to an eclectic score that ranges from birdsong to Vivaldi, Botanica reveals nature’s changing imagery in MOMIX’s signature illusionary style. Using large-scale puppets, projected imagery, and larger-than-life props designed by Michael Curry (The Lion King), MOMIX evokes a vivid landscape populated by Pendleton’s whimsical, fertile, and mythical imagination. “Earthly and otherworldly at once—a magnificent vision of the everyday miracles around us.” TIMES UNION ON BOTANICA “The beauty of MOMIX’s ideas is partly in their simplicity, partly in their acknowledgment of rhythm, humor, sex and amazing grace of the human body.” SAN FRANCISCO BAY GUARDIAN
