Don’t know the Alamo? The world’s hippest movie theater… ever. Here’s their website…

After the LAGQ performs on Wednesday, June 23rd, at around 10PM, the Alamo Drafthouse’s Master Pancake Theater will perform with the Rolling Roadshow in a free and open-to-the-public spoofing of Ralph Macchio’s classic 1986 classical/blues guitar movie Crossroads*.

*About Crossroads (1986, Ralph Macchio – IMDB listing here)

The movie begins with Macchio playing classical guitar at Juilliard School of Music (fun fact: the LAGQ’s Bill Kanengiser was Macchio’s guitar coach and hand double for the movie!). Macchio (aka “Lightning Boy”) gets berated for his interest in blues, leaves music school, finds a blues legend (“Blind Dog”), breaks him out of jail, and they go on an epic journey… ending at the Crossroads where, as it turns out, Blind Dog sold his soul to the devil to become a great bluesman. So “Lighting” has to wager his own soul in a guitar-off in order to save the soul of his mentor.

Remember, though, that we’re presenting this whole thing free, outside on the Long Center City Terrace, with the Alamo’s Rolling Roadshow, while its being heckled – during the movie – by the Alamo’s brilliant and hilarious comedy troupe Master Pancake. This will be a show like you’ve never seen before…
