Set in I Love Lucy sitcom style, The Merry Wives of Windsor features Austin’s finest young talent. “Tune in” to see the ultimate love triangle, a jealous husband in disguise, a “fairy” attack and more! Shakespeare’s only play set in contemporary Elizabethan England features Sir John Falstaff as a wayward knight, set to win the love to two married ladies. Little does Sir John know what he is in for with the two Merry Wives of Windsor!

The Merry Wives of Windsor is directed by Gwendolyn Kelso. Gwendolyn is familiar to Austin Shakespeare audiences as Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and Hero in Much Ado about Nothing. She manages the Scottish Rite Children’s Theatre, directing and teaching classes there and at ZACH. Gwendolyn has recently been accepted into the prestigious Shakespeare Theatre Company acting program in Washington, DC.

Austin Shakespeare presents its second year of Young Shakespeare, our teenage company, at Richard Garriott’s Curtain Theater. Young Shakespeare is an intensive, month-long training program that culminates in a professionally-produced show at a replica of an Elizabethan theater on the shores of Lake Austin. Last season, Young Shakespeare presented The Comedy of Errors to sold out houses and enthusiastic audiences.
