Austin’s holiday tradition returns as Texas’ longest running production of The Nutcracker takes the stage for its 48th year. Follow us into the dream world of Clara, where she’s empowered to slay a giant Rat King and transform her nutcracker doll into a prince. Together, they visit a magical land of dancing snowflakes, a Sugar Plum Fairy and a celebration that takes her around the world in a single night.

      This was my first time seeing Ballet Austin's Nutcracker, and my first time seeing the Nutcracker piece since I was probably 7 years old. Ballet Austin's performance was just as magical and wonderous as that first time seeing it as a child! The snow queen and king were outstanding and the entire act was just beautiful to behold. Was very impressed with all of the pieces. Beautiful! Collapse

      Ballet Austin's production of The Nutcracker really brought me back to my childhood, when I'd go with my grandmother to see the ballet during the holiday season. The dancers are incredibly talented, making difficult work look simple, and even fun. The kids who performed in the production were adorable, especially during the Mother Ginger scene. A great time, and I highly recommend it for adults and children. Collapse

      Seeing The Nutcracker Ballet is a tradition that many families use to officially start their Christmas season, and based on the audience Saturday night, this year is no exception. Families with children of all ages, and couples spanning the ages, convened on The Long Center to watch one of America’s most beloved ballets. Ballet Austin’s production is filled with little ones getting their first chance to be on stage to the seasoned principals showcasing their beauty and strength. The costuming is absolutely gorgeous, sparkling from all corners of the stage, and enhancing the delicate beauty of the Snow Queen and the Sugar Plum Fairy as they each dance through their performances. Anyone who can sit through this ballet, and not be moved as it progresses through the Land of Snow and the Court of the Sugar Plum Fairy, without feeling the pull of the orchestra carrying you along with Clara – is missing the opportunity of living this ballet – even if it’s just from our side of the stage.
